This months talk is "Palaeontology gets high tech – new ways of looking at old bones" by Kate Trinajstic from Curtin University
The Kimberley region of Western Australia is world famous for the wonderful fossils it has yielded. New computerised tomography (CT-Scanning) techniques are enabling us to see into our past as never before. Through these advance techniques we are making wonderful discoveries about how these fish lived, their reproduction and the move out of the water and onto dry land.
The World's oldest fossil embryo was discovered right here in Western Australia. In addition we are starting to unravel the secrets as to how these magnificent fossils have been preserved.
