Advances in Remote Sensing in a Changing Climate
15 May, 7:30 pm
Graham Ezzy is our speaker tonight.
Conventional land-based observations are typically collected at fixed intervals with limited spatial coverage, whereas satellite remote sensing allows for continual monitoring on the global scale. This has greatly enhanced our understanding of the climate system and its variations. Graham’s talk will discuss the advances and limitations of remote sensing in climate change studies. In collaboration with Landgate’s Satellite Remote Sensing Services, Graham was the first to use, in near real time, satellite data for operational flood forecasting and warning in Australia.
Members are reminded to bring specimens, observations, photos etc. for everyone to learn and enjoy and please remember to wear your name tag.
