Location: Ellen Brook Nature Reserve, Upper Swan
Time: 9.30 am – 1.00 pm
Meet: At the north-east corner of the reserve, off Great Northern Hwy. Parking is available off the highway on the firebreak.
Details: This will be a joint Naturalists’ Club – Friends of the Western Swamp Tortoise excursion. Plants will be supplied by Chittering Landcare; all implements for planting supplied by DBCA, though you may want to bring your own gumboots (kids especially). Main area for revegetation is a buffer area north of the reserve, close to Ellen Brook. After this we’ll go into the reserve with staff from DBCA who will show us the habitat and the ways in which these Critically Endangered animals are being protected; you will definitely need gumboots for this part. After that, DBCA will provide a BBQ lunch.
Bring: Suitable clothing, gumboots, rainwear if forecast.
Leaders: Tanya Marwood (Friends of the WST), DBCA staff.
