23 September, 10:00 am

Location: Harman Road, Sorrento (Off Marmion Ave)

Time: 10.00 am.

Meet: Park in Harman Rd Shopping Centre and meet at entrance to park (30m)

This month a guide from the Friends of Harman Park will lead us on a walk through a very small (1 ha) but florally diverse park that is partly natural and partly landscaped. It is home to over 100 species of conservation significance. In addition to planted Weeping Peppermints there are naturally occurring Eucalyptus decipiens, now fairly rare along the coast. The local friends group has establish a garden of native grasses and has protected several species of orchids, particularly the Pink Fairy Orchid.

The reserve is an important resource for local wildlife, including the endangered Carnaby’s Black Cockatoo. On the ground you may see a Western Limestone Ctenotus Skink basking in the sun or even a quenda scurrying under a Balga.

However, the highlight will be morning tea at the Polish Patisserie in the shopping centre. Bring your money and look forward to some delicious pastries. Cream optional!

Easy walk. Approx. 1.0km. ?? toilets in Shopping Centre.
