Long Range Excursion Stirling Range and Fitzgerald River NPs

Route accessible by 2-wheel drive. Self driving and self catering with own camping equipment, but travelling and camping together. Toilets will be available at camps but not always showers. Food and fuel are not available in Fitzgerald River National Park. Note no water available in FRNP. There is an option to go for just days 1-5, where there is accommodation (no camping.)

Days 1-5

Staying at Stirling Range Retreat

  • Walks led by BirdLife and local botanists, night stalk
  • Banksia Farm
  • Red Dirt Seeds – Company doing rehabilitation in Pilbara, Kimberley, Goldfields, Great Victoria desert
  • And/or climb Bluff Knoll
  • Jonica Foss, our own flora expert!

Bremer Bay

  • Tozers Bush Camp – wildflower walks (note, a ‘no-camping’ option available here)
  • Quaalup Wilderness Park

Gondwana link sites

  • Beringa, Bush Heritage Australia, meet former Serventy Student who has been doing research with Noongar elders, recording their oral history as her PhD thesis
  • Nowanup – Noongar and Wadjella project

Days 6 – 10 Fitzgerald River National Park

Point Ann

  • Whale watching, St Mary’s Inlet, West Mount Barren, Mount Maxwell

Hammersley Inlet camp

  • West Beach, East Mount Barren

4 Mile Beach camp

  • Barrens Beach, Sepulcralis Hill, No Tree Hill

Citizen Science

  • Cocky Watch – BirdLife project
