Exploring the Walpole Wilderness

Northern Suburbs Branch, 19 July2023

Our presentation in July featured photos taken during the Notley Post-Easter Excursion to the Walpole Wilderness.

One of the most interesting discoveries during our mini-bioblitz was the discovery of a single specimen of Wilsmore’s False Triumphant Pill Woodlouse (Pseudolaureola wilsmorei).

The name that captured Heather Galluccio’s attention wasn’t that of the isopod, but Helena M Barnes, the co-author of the 1927 paper describing the type specimen. Heather delved further and presented her findings at our meeting. See Who was Helena M Barnes.
