Anne Bellman is the recipient of the 2017 Western Australian Wildflower Society Award. This award is awarded to a person who has advanced the aims of the Society, promoting the value of our natural bushland.
Anne has been a member of the WA Naturalist’s Club for 14 years at the KRM Branch and has held leadership positions there. She has been active in the establishment of Rockingham Lakes Environment Centre (Naragebup), in the Friends of Pagnoni and in the Baldivis Children’s Forest.
Anne Bellman is a quiet achiever who has spent a lifetime raising awareness and understanding of the uniqueness of our natural environment, particularly the flora. She has worked tirelessly to document knowledge of our flora and to protect it by fighting to establish and maintain reserves. She has worked with the Wildflower Society’s bushland survey program since its inception in 1988 and is now in a leadership role. She works every week at the WA Herbarium, for which she received the WA Volunteer Service Award earlier this year.
