Members of the club were shocked to learn of the sudden death of Frank Walker while canoeing at Matilda Bay on 31 January, just a couple of days after attending the NSB’s social barbecue. Frank and his wife Jan joined the club in July 2015 soon after their arrival from Florida and attended meetings at various branches and regularly participated in bush walking and GOLLY Walks. Frank and Jan were accredited natural history guides in Florida and enjoyed extending their knowledge to encompass the southern hemisphere, particularly our south-west. Frank was often called upon to provide photos for the NSB’s monthly reports as he never travelled without his camera.
The club extends its condolences to Jan and the members of the extended Walker family around the world. Lutz Elber spoke on behalf of the Bushwalking group and Don Poynton on behalf of the Nats Club, at Frank’s memorial service.
