The Northern Suburbs Branch held its AGM on the 18th December. Prior to the AGM Don Poynton (Branch Chairperson) donned a Santa Claus hat and conducted a short quiz based on the scientific or common names of WA flora and fauna that were in some way related to Christmas.
The election of office bearers resulted in no change;
- Chairperson – Don Poynton,
- Secretary – Graham Ezzy,
- Treasurer – Bob Ruscoe,
- Committee – Barbara Baxendale, Jenny Cunningham, Christine Curry and Willy Dadour.
The digital photo competition was well supported with 19 photos to choose from. The winners were selected by popular vote. First prize went to Pam Ghirardi for a stunning shot of a Hump-back whale breaching with Rottnest Island in the background. Don Poynton was second with a close-up photo of Yellow Leschenaultia (Lechenaultia linaroides). Third prize was won by Terri Richardson for her photo of bird petroglyphs on the Burrup Peninsula.
The evening concluded with a Christmas inspired supper.
