Darwin Day: Snorkelling at Mettams Pool

Charles Darwin’s birthday, which falls on 12 February, is generally used to highlight Darwin’s contributions to science and to promote science in general. To commemorate his achievements, the Club will head to Mettams Pool for a snorkelling event. You can expect to see marine fishes, see anemones, crabs and sea stars as well as seaweeds and sea grasses.

Time: 9 am
Where: Mettams Pool (Marmion Marine Park), 276 West Coast Drive, North Beach.
Meeting point: At the Mettams Pool carpark on the northern side of the beach. Extra parking is available in car park just north of Bennion St if there are no spaces along West Coast Highway. Walking distance approx. 200m.
Bring: swimming and snorkelling gear, towel, drinking water, sunscreen, hat etc., identification books and charts.
