NSB’s Re-enactment of First Excursion : Lake Joondalup

The Wanneroo and District Branch held its first excursion on 31 March 1985. It was to Neil Hawkins Park. Not long after, Noelene Goodsell, wife of the inaugural president, used her position as a school teacher to involve the Wanneroo Primary School in planning a Nature Trail along the shore of Lake Joondalup.
Our re-enactment will take us from the park to the Yellagonga Scenic Lookout and beyond. There won’t be too many wildflowers but hopefully lots of birds and maybe a turtle or two.
Prize for anyone in early 1980s dress. Guys, how quickly can you grow a mullet!
Comfortable footwear and clothes suitable for the weather. Bring morning tea.
There is an added bonus – Neil Hawkins Park is the venue for a special installation during the Joondalup Festival – come along, listen and learn.
