Excursion Timing: 9.30am start -11am finish.
Excursion Meeting Place: We will meet at the very top car park on Falls Road, the FIRST car park as you drive down Falls Road from Lesmurdie. It is called Terrace Carpark on Google maps. If you have reached the Falls, you have gone too far. Look for the DRB Nats signs.
Â
Please note there are no toilet facilities on the walk, but there are some close to the Falls. Bring your binoculars and wear solid footwear.
Leaders: Renowned naturalists Rachel and Mike Green.
This will be a bird-watching excursion around the Upper Lesmurdie Brook. The leaders have been conducting a bird survey over the past year around the brook.
The walk is relatively easy but it is a gravel path and sometimes uneven, so not accessible for wheelchairs. There is one very short steep section; the rest is relatively flat. There will be water in the brook and some of the local birds will be nesting. Red-tailed Black Cockatoos, Grey Fantails, Australian Ring-neck Parrots, Striated Pardalotes and others have been seen nesting in the area during the survey period.
Please bring your own water as there is none on site. Toilets are available further down the road, and there are BBQ tables for lunch. Note the weather, and bring suitable footwear and clothing.
Binoculars, and a pen and paper to record sightings may be useful. Mobile phone reception is variable.
Please note there are only 20 places available.
