The topic for the March meeting of KRMB was a presentation by Rosalie Barrett of photographs taken during a trip that she took with husband Geoff during September and October 2015 through the upper Mid West and Lower Murchison regions. The first part of the presentation showed wildflowers and flowering shrubs photographed by Geoff during the portion of the trip between Jingemia Cave to Pindar, Twin peaks Station and Balinyoo Pool. There were far too many plants to name individually but those presented included: Fringed Lily; Grevillea sp. including Grevillea excelsior (Flame Grevillea), Grevillea petrophiloides (Pink Pokers) and Grevillea armigera (Prickly Toothbrush)); Hakea sp. including Hakea lissocarpha (Honeybush); Acacias; Eromophilas; Verticordias; Everlastings; Mulla Mullas (Ptilotus sp.); Wells Dampiera (Dampiera wellsii), Diplolaena vetuna and Stylidiums. On the Pindar to Beringarra Road they found numerous Wreath Lechenaultia (Lechenaultia macrantha) in flower on the roadside – a memorable sight.
The series of photographs also included a few species of grasshoppers, a butterfly and a Long-nosed Water Dragon (Amphibolurus longirostris). The second part of the presentation was of Birds of the Butcher Track and Balinyoo Pool. These photos showed Whistling Kites, Australian Hobby, Budgerigars, Zebra Finches, White Faced Herons, Black-fronted Dotterell, Crimson Chats, Weiro, Black-tailed Native Hen, Egrets, White Ibis, Magpie Lark and many more.
The audience thanked Rosalie for sharing the photographs from their trip.
