NS Branch ,15 Dec 2021

The Northern Suburbs Branch’s AGM held on Wednesday 15th December was well attended. Don Poynton (branch chairperson) advised the unusual coastal plant he showed the last meeting had since been identified by Greg Keighery as Roepera fruticulosa (Shrubby Twinleaf).
Prior to the AGM, Don Poynton conducted his annual Christmas-themed quiz. Questions ranged from easy ones, such as, ‘Which two declared pests in WA are associated with the nativity?’ to ‘What is the common name for the bird John Gould named Otis australasianus but is now known as Ardeotis australis?’ The digital photo competition was well supported with 34 entries. The winners were selected by popular vote. Prizes went to Don Poynton for his photo of a Southwestern Spiny-tailed Gecko, Elizabeth Oxam for a photo of a Wingless Grasshopper and Maryanne Ezzy for her photo of two young Red Wattlebirds.
