The November meeting was also the AGM of KRMB. Minutes from the previous AGM were read. As all committee members were willing to continue in their roles there was no ballot. The Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer will continue in their present roles as will the committee members. The full committee is as follows: Chairman: Bert Rabone, Secretary: Ailsa Rabone, Treasurer: Rosalie Barritt, and the committee members are Bob Goodale, Colin Prickett, Chris Punter, Pauline Dilley and Diana Hitchen.
One point of business was the choice of a meeting venue for 2018. It was noted that Naragebup, the Rockingham Regional Environmental Centre, had been re-opened and had a stable committee that indicated it would be happy to have KRMB hold its meetings at the centre. After discussion it was decided to hold the KRMB monthly meetings there on the third Monday of the month.
At the completion of the AGM Colin Prickett presented a series of photographs of flora and fauna taken during spring. The photographs fell into the categories of Birds, Insects, Reptiles/Frogs, Orchids and Wildflowers. There are too many to list individually in this report. Among the photographs were a few that could be highlighted such as the
Dwarf Hammer Orchid (Drakaea micrantha) (above) (DRF), which was an unexpected find when looking for a different Hammer Orchid near Margaret River, and the white form of the Silky Blue Orchid (Cyanicula sericea) (below)
.
A photo of The King in his Carriage Hammer Orchid (Drakaea glyptodon) was noteworthy because it was the first sighting of this Orchid in Paganoni Reserve by Colin in over 10 years of exploring the reserve. Similarly finding Rattle Beak Orchids in flower in Karnup Reserve was also totally unexpected. This goes to show that it is worth returning to a local reserve year after year because you never know when you may find something new.
