New Yahoo Group: Naturalists in Western Australia

We are mainly members of the WA Naturalists Club but would welcome others interested in natural history in Western Australia. Any topic that relates to fauna, flora or ecosystems in WA is welcome.

This group is intended be a way to discuss topics, ask questions, announce events, etc. Only polite, relevant postings will be accepted. No politics and no abuse please.

On joining the list, you can opt to get messages by email as they are posted, or just once a day, or only when there’s a ‘special notice’ from the moderator. It will be a very lightly moderated group, so we emphasise the need to remain polite and rational. Our first posting is below, to give you an idea of the sort of thing we’re proposing to discuss.

First posting: one for the botanists!

"Does anyone out there know why some flowers close at night? I mean what's the evolutionary reason for this, rather than just the mechanics of it?"

So, if you’d like to subscribe, send an email to wa_nats-subscribe@yahoogroups.com (subject and message are not required, just a blank email will do the job).
