Wildflowers

Kwinana Rockingham Mandurah Branch, 21 September 2026

The September General Meeting included a presentation by Geoff Pettifer detailing initiatives to restart a Young Naturalists group within the Western Australian Naturalists Club. The presentation outlined approaches to attract more younger members, which is seen as critical to maintaining a strong membership in future years.

This was followed by Anne Bellman, who provided information about the Jurien Bay area, and Mt Lesueur National Park in particular, for members attending the excursion over the September long weekend. Anne’s time living in the area, plus her involvement with the Wildflower Society, meant she could pinpoint areas for the group to target to see some of the flora species for which the national park is renowned.

After Anne’s talk, Sabine Alberro showed photographs she took on a previous visit to Mt Lesueur National Park to provide further information for the upcoming excursion. The audience, especially those participating in the excursion, thanked Anne and Sabine for their presentations.
