Family Excursion

Three families and five individuals attended, plus leaders Mark Brundrett and Mike Gregson, for a total of 15.

Many unique and beautiful flowering species can be found within Warwick Conservation Area. So far, 217 native flora species have been recorded Friends of Warwick Bushland, Warwick-Bushland-Native-Plants-2024.pdf

Mark shared three species listed as naturally occurring significant flora of the Perth Metropolitan Region: Waldjumi (Jacksonia sericea), Prickly Conostylis (Conostylis aculeata subsp. cygnorum), and Common Popflower (Glischrocaryon aureum). Some significant orchid populations are also present that are uncommon in Perth, such as the Chestnut Sun Orchid (Thelymitra fuscolutea).

Mentions were made to guests about Florabase and to use iNaturalist for recordings.
