Reptiles

Kwinana Rockingham Mandurah Branch, 18 May 2026

The topic for the May Meeting was reptiles, and four young men, Hawk, Jacob, Tyler, and Joe from Naragebup delivered a talk. There were fourteen members present, which was quite good for KRMB.

The meeting was mostly a hands-on night with the presenters, Hawk Boisvert, 18, regular presenter and certified snake handler; Tyler Darlington; Jacob Jones – 3rd and 2nd on Naragebup’s reptile licence; and Joe Skelton, newest enthusiast.

Using reptiles from the Naragebup display collection, the presenters came around to the audience with various Bobtails, especially the Northern Blue-tongued Lizard and the Western Shingleback Bobtail. These are two of the five species found in Western Australia. Then we were shown the Western Bearded Dragon. They change their colours depending on their situation. Also shown was the Central Bearded Dragon, found only in the outback. There are eight species of Bearded Dragons found in Australia. Later, we saw two large Stimson’s Pythons, which are usually found in Western Australia’s arid grasslands, woodlands, and deserts.

The audience thanked the presenters for their interesting presentation.
